Tax Pit (taxpit.app) is an Australian data platform that aggregates publicly available government data to track national metrics across health, economy, housing, crime, and other sectors. We are operated from Australia.

2. Information We Collect

Account information: If you subscribe, we collect your email address to manage your account and send login links.

Payment information: Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment processing.

Device fingerprint: We generate a hardware-based fingerprint (screen resolution, timezone, browser features) to manage free preview limits. This fingerprint is stored as a one-way hash and cannot identify you personally.

Usage data: We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site. This collects anonymised data about pages visited, session duration, and device type.

Cookies: We use the following cookies:

cw_session — Authentication session (HTTP-only, secure, 7-30 days)
cw_preview_start — Free preview tracking (HTTP-only, 24 hours)
Google Analytics cookies — _ga, _ga_* (analytics, 2 years)

We do not sell your personal information. We do not send marketing emails.

4. Data Sources

All metrics displayed on Tax Pit are sourced from publicly available Australian government data including ABS, AIHW, RBA, AEMO, ATO, ACCC, and other official agencies. We do not collect data about individual citizens. Politicians are treated as public figures using only publicly available parliamentary data.

5. Data Security

We use HTTPS encryption, HTTP-only secure cookies, hashed fingerprints, and parameterised database queries. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe (PCI DSS Level 1 compliant).

6. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate information
Request deletion of your account and associated data
Cancel your subscription at any time via the Stripe billing portal
